At an altitude of 6,400 feet, Cimarron averages between 55 and 83 degrees Fahrenheit in summer and 18 to 47 degrees in winter. At the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, the town enjoys four distinct but relatively mild seasons, with sunshine all year round.

In summer, the days are arid and the evenings are cool enough to enjoy excellent star-gazing
